2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV Specs

One of the first strides in Honda’s initiative to become carbon neutral by 2040, The CRV e:FCEV packs a next-generation fuel cell developed in a joint venture with General Motors that’s set to revolutionize the Electric Vehicle market. The hydrogen cell CR-V e stands out as the only fuel-cell electric vehicle manufactured in the United States equipped with both a 4.3kg hydrogen gas tank to power the American-made fuel cell system and plug-in EV charging capability. Together, both batteries give this compact crossover 270 miles of emissions-free driving. The greatest advantage compared to traditional electric vehicles is that the hydrogen tank only takes three minutes to fill up – similar to gas-fueled cars. Many an EV user gripes about how long it takes to fully charge their car, and hydrogen cells provide the solution.

Production and Pricing

Honda anticipates manufacturing approximately 300 e:FCEVs annually, initially priced at $60,000—a common rate for emerging technology. However, the drawback lies in the vehicle's exclusive launch in California, with 12 designated Honda dealerships offering leasing options for the e:FCEV until more convenient refueling solutions become accessible nationwide. It's plausible to predict that as infrastructure develops, the CRV e:FCEV will become more widely accessible. Nonetheless, the precise timeline for its availability beyond California remains uncertain.
